This article courtesy of Swimsmooth .com I thought was very interesting and well worth a read......
On January 17, 1995, I hit the wall 8hrs into my solo swim from Sydney to Wollongong (I know what you’re thinking... what were you thinking Shelley?) Little did I know that I had 4hrs 30mins of swimming remaining!
The water had dropped from 21C to 12C. Imagine if you can swimming at the front of the shark proof cage with the ocean water dumping on top of my head every 5 seconds much like a buck... Continue reading ...

This video comes with a warning that there is some strong language in it. So please have Parents or Guardians permission before viewing the clip. Dave Allen was a very funny Irish commedian who sadly died in 2005. This piece from 1990 (almost twenty years ago) offers a great insight to the Englih language.

"I had over-trained," he said. "I put too much pressure on myself because I wanted that gold medal too much. If I had trained 15 per cent less, I would have won.
"I was training like a crazy person. There was a lack of self-confidence and a lack of maturity. An athlete does not only train with his body. He trains with his mind."

Keep It Simple: Run To Win! "I run around 200ks a week for 8 weeks when preparing for a marathon. For me all the weeks workouts are important. The difference between African and the western runners I think is on race day. Africans will go out to win while the others will run with lack of self belief. I think US runners have all the advantages: coaching,medic... Continue reading ...
